Helloween Tribute- Old Art post

Many many years ago, during my college days, I was looking for some new letsplays to watch. And that's when I came across Helloween4545. What letsplay was it that got my hooked? His American Mcgee's Alice letsplay? Maybe his Silent Hill 3 letsplay? Call of Cthulhu? Amnesia the Dark Decent? I honestly can't remember.

But I do remember absolutely loving his humor and game play commentary so much that I instantly started digging through every playlist of games he had at the time. Whether it was his conversations with "Helloween number 2 and 3", his absolute joy when finding a game's shotgun, or just his general commentary in each game he played, Helloween always kept me laughing. He introduced me to games I never thought I'd enjoy. And to games that I hated, but watched anyway because he made them fun to watch.

This picture, for instance? I drew years ago while watching a few episodes of his Alan Wake letsplay, back in 2012. I found it while going through some old sketches, and realized I never posted it. And since Helloween just celebrated his 10 year anniversary, I figured this was a good time to show this old bit of nostalgia. I haven't edited any of the original picture, except making the dialogue more, well, legible. Hopefully everyone can see it okay, since I don't have my usual programs to clean it up

HAPPY 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY HELLOWEEN!

Can you guess what six films I'm going to be looking at?

Sketchlog Art TimeLapse

Hey guys! Friday Timelapses are back! The new one isn't ready just yet so I'm posting one that's been on the back burner for a while! The linework from this post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWZswddZ1yA

Yes it is long but honestly this drawing did take AGES to do. It was my first big picture I had done since getting my new, more powerful computer. I spent a lot of time testing out different techniques and linework ideas. Not to mention drawing some characters I've never tried before, like Swerve. Nice thing about have 2 computers is that the second one can show me my reference while I'm recording

Transformers and Halloween Countdown Titlecard

Title card for the Transformers review. Most of it was done in pen and pencil, with color and gradient overlays. I tried to mimic the cover of the movie, but decided to keep the background very simple. Usually when I do a title card, I only use my traditional pencil textures and use Photoshop to add color. Here I combined more Photoshop brushes. Honestly I still like the pencil texture the best, but it was an interesting experiment

And this one... this title card I made a few years ago, right before going on that long hiatus. It was for the original Halloween project I was working on but had to stop. Getting the different textures with my pencil was a lot of fun.

Lira of the Scorpions

So... honestly there's not much I can say without spoilers. All I can really say is that this girl has been through hell and back, but she has small friends that are willing to help her.

Not completely happy with the proportions. But as a concept image, I like it. Lira is a character that I find hard to draw as a child because she's very adult... and has very thick eyebrows.

When I get to writing her story, I'll probably draw it again, but with actual reference. And context.

The Ink Tests

I didn't participate in Inktober this year, but I did decide to test on some new pens on some old drawings. Including some drawings from halloween last year, some character designs and fanart for Steven Universe and Stardew Valley!

Sketch Dump!

Alright, I've got a new computer and I'm back in action at last! Hopefully i'll be getting some more frequent updates for the site going soon. I've got MEH on the way in the next months and I'm working on a little side project for the Sketch-Log.

But for now, here's some sketches of htings if been working on over the months, and a couple of things before my computer went capoot.

Working on the main weapon/armor for a character. Here are some of the inital designs:

Felt like drawing Miyazaki cats. So i looked into one of my favorite Miyazaki films, The Cat Returns!

Last Valentines Day, I mentioned on the sketchlog that I had originally planned a very very silly article, buuuut it never took off because I got sick. Welp, this is it: My reactions to the Arrow TV show, with a valentines day theme.

Working out a helmet design:

Tried my hand at some slime monsters:

And now some random characters that (mostly) have nothing to do with each other:

I have no idea. I really don't.

So thats it now. There will be some more refined, finished work in early June.

Green Wake Volume 1 review

Hey all! Halloween Review is up at the Sketchlog, complete with several short comic strips done for the review! I review Green Wake while trying to escape the disturbing town! Also comic is MATURE! NOT FOR KIDS!

I'll be posting them all slowly here. And as per tradition, I have posted the Halloween Special the day after halloween. YAAAAAY!

Oh, stop looking at me like that. Don't you know that Nov. 1 is the scaaaaariest day of the month? Uh, not buying this are you? Fine. Moving on.

It's NANOWRIMO! Which means I'm going to be working towards the goal of 50 000 words this month!

... What have I done?

But since I'm an artist as well as a writer (And I haven't been posting any art unrelated to the sketch-log lately), I'm going to do a 30 day art challenge at the same time! Everyday, I'll be posting a new drawing, scribble or refined image or comic every day for all of November! Maybe I'll post a bit of writing too ;) First one will be up tonight!

Sleep of Reason: extras

So, I'm sure you can tell by... the site looking exactly the same as it usually does, the update has not been going according to plan. Well, I have been doing the behind the scenes stuff but life has been getting in the way this week and there are some heavy things on my mind right now that have been distracting me.

So hopefully the update will be done some time later this week... uh... fingers crossed (among otehr things on my mind, it is currently 30 degrees over here and it is trying to murder my computer)

Until then, here is one of the older sets of images I've been meaning to put here. Sorry for nothing new right now. Will posting some new stuff later this week make up for it? Please? ... please?

Oh, I want to note that it is MATURE due to gore, so hit the jump if you want to see it.

HATE

And here is a MAIN Sanctuary character: "HATE", which stands for "01001000 01000001 01010100 01000101"... No, really.

Unfortunately, I can't really reveal much about HATE, other then he is obviously not a nice robot and if you see him, running is pretty much useless...

Unreal Bestiary

The eyes...

---------------------------------

I've said before that I am an extreme horror and monster lover. But I've never really posted that much in the category. That's going to change soon. I want to post more horror, and especially my creature designs (the non spoiler-y ones). So here is the "Unreal Bestiary", the logo for monsters, creepy crawlies and things not meant to be scene (not always the horror kind). I'm working on redoing the site so it's segmented more like SlugLady's Sketch-Log, so it'll be easier to navigate through my comics, illustrations and the like, with drawn headers. Here's the first one!

Wow. Posting on a Tuesday feels weird

The Snake with No Name

Alternate Title: Fist Full of Serpents.

Medusa as a gunslinger in the Wild West. What the hell was I smoking during the con?

So a while back, I made up a Medusa character for a series that is so undeveloped at this point, I’m not even going to go into it right now. But then I came up with this little idea and thought: Huh, that would make a good short story.

So, why would Medusa need guns? Cause she's a good guy now... sort of?

Look, I honestly can't say much without revealing spoilers. Of course the setting is the wild west, and she is the medusa. She is lot less evil and looking for a little redemption due to the things she's done. (There was alot more to the myths then we know). Hence the blindfold. I noticed Medusa is depicted with a bow and arrow, and I pictured her with other long range weapons, like a crossbow and a shot gun. Then I was thinking about her in different eras and, well, this happened.

And i know I said not to worry about anatomy issues, expecially on initial first sketches like this... but holy crud, It has been too long since I drew a gun. Time for some de-rusting.

Monster doodle 1

This is just a small sketch I did a few nights ago. A quick concept for a monster idea i've been toying with.

As a few of you might remember, I like to dip into horror and gore (mature link here) every now and again. Well, I've been doing quite a bit more in the last couple of months. Most of it for yet another story concept (I will explain why I'm doing so many story concepts soon. There is a reason.)

I'm thinking of doing a big horror update. But since most of my art lately is happy-ish or fantasy related, I figured i'd give you a heads up with this first.

K, that's it for tonight! Seeya tomorrow!
